Printing a paper poster on campus
The Genomics Institute front also has poster printing capabilities. It's free and the turn around is fast (like less than a day in some cases). Just send an email to Kelly Sauder (ksauder@soe.ucsc.edu) with the PDF of the poster attached. Or just talk to someone in the front office about getting a poster printed.
You can get your poster printed at the UCSC School of Engineering https://bels.soe.ucsc.edu/PosterGuidelines

[Cost for 34x44 (ASHG size) was $25. Note that normal lead time is 10 days. Add $25 for rush (around 4 days).]
A. Use your favorite drawing tool (e.g. Powerpoint) to create image
- In PPT, first use Setup Page dialog to specify poster size in inches (e.g. 34x44 for ASHG format)
- After editing, save as PDF
B. Create PNG file using your favorite image processing tool (e.g. Preview on Mac):
- Inspect image
- For portrait mode, rotate PDF 90%
- Save as PNG, 300DPI
- Check PNG image resolution -- should be something like 10K x 13K for ASHG size.
C. Check file size -- not too small (e.g. 1M) or too big (must be smaller than 40M). For above size poster, mine was 13M.
