Canonical gene details CD226 uc002lkm.2
Other loci: uc010dqo.1,
Description: CD226 molecule precursor
RefSeq Summary (NM_006566): This gene encodes a glycoprotein expressed on the surface of NK cells, platelets, monocytes and a subset of T cells. It is a member of the Ig-superfamily containing 2 Ig-like domains of the V-set. The protein mediates cellular adhesion of platelets and megakaryocytic cells to vascular endothelial cells. The protein also plays a role in megakaryocytic cell maturation. [provided by RefSeq].

Losses and gains reported in control human samples; PMID: 17666407. The nt mouse has a 1.6 Mb deletion encompassing 4 genes; Rttn, CD226, Dok6 and Txndc10. The homozygous mouse has a phenotype identical to the Rttn homozygous gene-trap line and is embryonic lethal. Hemizygosity in the mouse does not cause an obvious phenotype. PMID: 17551791
