Since 1987, dr. Anna Conti studies chromosomal disorders with classical cytogenetic techniques and more sophisticated techniques of molecular cytogenetics within pre-and post-natal diagnosis at the Department of Clinical Pathology of the University of Naples Federico II, under the direction of Prof. Lucio Nitsch. She is responsible for karyotype analysis from amniotic fluid, chorionic villus biopsies, umbilical cord blood and peripheral blood from patients with malformation syndromes, providing for the molecular cytogenetic characterization of anomalies, both with techniques of in situ hybridization with fluorescent probes and using BAC or oligonucleotide array technology.
